The objective of the "Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)" is to provide access to various financial services such as basic savings bank accounts, need-based credit, remittance facilities, insurance, and pensions to weaker sections and low-income groups who were previously excluded. The plan aims to achieve universal access to banking facilities, with at least one basic banking account for every household, and to provide financial literacy, access to credit, insurance, and pension facilities. Additionally, beneficiaries will receive a RuPay Debit card that includes accident insurance coverage of Rs. 1 lakh.
