ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പത്ത് ലക്ഷത്തിലധികം ജനസംഖ്യയുള്ള നഗരങ്ങളിലെ (million-plus cities) ആകെ രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള മോട്ടോർ വാഹനങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണം അവിടങ്ങളിലെ നഗരവൽക്കരണത്തിന്റെയും സാമ്പത്തിക വികസനത്തിന്റെയും പ്രധാന സൂചകമാണ്. ഇത്തരം നഗരങ്ങളിൽ വാഹനത്തിരക്കും വിവിധ തരം വാഹനങ്ങളുടെ സാന്നിധ്യവും വളരെ കൂടുതലാണ്.
